Our time at Ebeltoft (08. - 09.09.2014)
Our next stop for our holiday in Danmark is Ebeltoft. As it is some kilometers away from Mariager, it took us some time to get here. After arival we relaxed at the campsite and enjoyed the sunset from the windows as it was really windy outside.

The next day we started exploring Ebeltoft. Our first way took us to an old ship called Fregatten Jyland. It is an old sailing ship and now it is part of a museum. We looked around at the museum and explored the ship.

In front of the museum we found a big apple to climb on ;)

Our way further on took us to the beautiful old center of the town with all its beautiful old houses.

We had a really nice day at the beautiful city of Ebeltoft.

A day at the "saltcity" of Mariager (07.09.2014)
Today we had a great day at Mariager. The history of that city is related to salt. Salters have been there in former times. Today a saltmuseum is reminding at that time. So in the morning we have been to Mariager Saltcenter.

We have seen a lot of interessting things at the museum-part:

A big peace of salt

A statue made of a big saltstone

How saltfish is made in Barells (no real fish inside) ....

Old and new design of salt-packages

To the saltcenter belongs a garden where we found a replicas of an old salt refinery with a salt pan inside and a brine concentrating house.

Salt pan - A man showed us how salt work is done

brine concentrating house

After this interessting impressions Mum and Dad relaxed at a small "Dead sea pool". The water at that pool has a alt concentration of nearly 30 %, so you can not really sink ... We could not jump in the water ourself, but Mum and Da said it was great.

The Pool

At the laboratory of the museum children and Toyvoyagers can make their own alt out of brine. So we did it ...

Saltwater in the pan

Can you see the first salt at the pan

Ready - Our salt souvenir

O.K enough salt for today.

At the afternoon we got on an historcal train-tour with an old train and a steam engine.

Looking around at the train

Sitting at the window and looking outside

Sitting at a bench - Together with our friend Weihny - This day was "bamse dag" (teddy day) at the train. Every child that has a teddy can use it as a "ticket" and die not have to pay for the trainticket - Anita took Weihny with her ...
